MP3jam combines a music downloader, an audio extractor, and an audio player to provide you with an interesting and attractive tool that allows you to locate, download, manage, and play your favorite YouTube audio tracks.
The program allows you to download full albums (when available), and to manage both your downloads in progress and your already downloaded tracks.
You can search YouTube for albums, artists, or specific tracks. MP3jam will show you the results – with a thumbnail when available – in a clean and attractive interface. When searching for music by a given artist, you will be shown their full discography, offering you the possibility of downloading some of the tracks or the full albums. You can listen to any of the tracks before downloading them, so that you can check that those are the tracks you were actually looking for.
Downloading full albums is subject to availability of all their tracks on YouTube. Thus, when a full album is selected for download, the program will show you a list of its contents and will check if it can be downloaded from YouTube or not. It will download all the available tracks, and will add a “Track is not available” sign to the rest. Tracks are downloaded in MP3, and when more than one version is available for the same track, MP3jam will download the one with the best quality, up to 320 Kbps.
The program will store all downloaded tracks in the selected folder, putting all the tracks belonging to the same album together in a new folder, thus helping you to keep your music collection neatly organized. You can play back your downloaded music either using your favorite audio player or the program’s “Downloads” tab.
MP3jam is a free and easy-to-use tool, and these are probably its main assets. Regrettably, its download possibilities are limited to tracks available on YouTube, which becomes a bit of a nuisance when trying to grab full albums.
